Ralph E. (Chris) Christofferson, PhD.
Christoffersen joined Morgenthaler Ventures in 2001. Based in Boulder, Colorado, he is focusing on new biotechnology investments. Previously, he was the President and CEO of Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Morgenthaler portfolio biotechnology company with a mission to commercialize the Nobel Prize-winning discovery of ribozymes for use as human therapeutics. He currently serves on five corporate boards, and achieved successful exits with Threshold Pharmaceuticals, Avidia Biosciences, and most recently Morphotek.
He also served as the Senior Vice President of Research at SmithKline Beecham, and Vice President of Discovery Research at The Upjohn Company, and President of Colorado State University.
Christoffersen received an honorary doctor of law degree from Cornell College in 1983, the "Outstanding Research of Year" Award from the International Society of Quantum Biology in 1981, the "W. E. Upjohn Award" for contributions in biotechnology in 1988, and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 from the Colorado Biosciences Association.
Richard Duke, Ph.D.
Dr. Duke is an executive, inventor, and entrepreneur with over ten years of experience in building, financing, and managing start-up biotechnology companies, plus over twenty-five years of experience in biomedical research. Dr. Duke is a Founder and former CEO and President of GlobeImmune, Inc., and is founder and CEO of oncology start-up Apoplogic.
Bill Freytag, Ph.D.
Dr. Freytag was most recently CEO of Aspeva Pharmaceuticals, prior to its sale to Galenica. From 1998 to 2006 he was the CEO of Myogen before its sale to Gilead Sciences. He also previously held executive positions at Somatogen, Inc., Boehringer Mannheim, and DuPont Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Freytag holds a Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas Medical Center and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Duke University.
Dan Mitchell
Mr. Mitchell is a founder and partner of Sequel Venture Partners. He has been in the venture capital business since 1982.
Doug Onsi
Mr. Onsi is a Venture Partner at HealthCare Ventures. Prior to joining HealthCare Ventures in 2007, he served as Vice President, Campath Product Operations & Oncology Portfolio Management and as Vice President, Business Development at Genzyme Corporation. Before joining Genzyme, Mr. Onsi was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Business Development of TolerRx. Mr. Onsi also held a senior business development position at LeukoSite, which was acquired by Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
